Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria left communities devastated in the Caribbean and the US. Two major earthquakes in Mexico killed hundreds and caused major destruction. These disasters call on those affected to draw on their courage and faith, while the rest of us respond with compassionate assistance. As someone who puts their faith into action, I thought you would want to join our efforts to help. The United Church has a long history of helping communities recover and rebuild after disasters. Because our response is carried out with our local church partners, we are often already in the community – able to assess immediate needs and provide the urgently needed resources and help rebuild over the long term.
