The sanctuary at West Point Grey United Church is a wonderful space to perform and record music. It has great acoustics, a Casavant pipe organ, and a Grotrian grand piano. The neighbourhood is quiet, tucked away in beautiful Point Grey, and has become a destination for rehearsals, concerts, and recording sessions.
While the space can accommodate large ensembles such as a brass band or a choir with chamber orchestra, it is especially suited to smaller groups and soloists. Musicians who play acoustic music, such as classical, jazz, and folk, will surely enjoy making music at West Point Grey United Church.
Erik Olson, the previous Director of Music at the church, has an interest and training in music recording, and in January 2013, started Night Owl Recording with Joel Mohr. They specialize in audio and video recording for acoustic musicians, focusing on student recordings for auditions/grant/competition applications, as well as live concert recordings.
