Update Regarding Our Syrian Refugee Families
The Al Zaza family is doing well. All of the family are doing well in school. Lamis and Ahmad are awaiting placement in level 3 at Windsor school next week. Sana, the eldest, has done very well and hopes to be out of ESL by next year. Shaza and Ghena both have certificates of reading achievements. from their classes and even Dana can give you a full sentence in English when stopped long enough to 'perform'. Their constant exposure to English in the classroom is giving very good results. The family is making their way in the medical system. Many of the family may be wearing new glasses by the end of the month. The house that we found for them continues to have its challenges. They still feel they need to share their small washing machine with the downstairs tenants and the dryer installed in the back yard apparently does not work. Lamis does not complain but simply plans to move when they can. Mohamad and Omar are very busy and continue to live in the apt. they found last spring. Mohamad is working his two jobs, school is online during the week with a Saturday class. Omar continues to search for his niche. In the meanwhile, he is doing some flooring contracts.
