Other Activities in the Community and Global Outreach.

First United Church Mission

We provide food and warm socks -- over 3,000 pairs a year - to First United Church Mission in Vancouver's downtown eastside.

Stamps for Cancer Bandages

Save the stamps off your mail and bring or send them to the church office (tear them off with about 1/4 inch of the envelope around the edges). We give the stamps to the Order of the Eastern Star, who have the ink extracted and use the profits from the ink sales to make cancer bandages.

Recycle for Education

Drop your empty printer toner cartridges in the box marked Recycle for Education outside the church office. We take them to Staples Business Depot for recycling. For every eligible cartridge Staples donates one dollar to participating schools in the community.

Fair Trade Products

Fair Trade helps link farmers` co-operatives directly with importers who pay a fair price for the product, ensuring a sustainable wage for the workers. We use Fair Trade  coffee for church purposes and offer the congregation an opportunity to purchase, on a monthly basis,  Fair Trade coffee, tea, hot chocolate and chocolate bars. Orders can be placed through the church office on the first Sunday of the month and picked up the following Sunday.

Globally, Eyeglass Recycling

We collect old glasses and send them to Medical Missions International, a program helping people in Third World countries to achieve better vision. Please leave your old glasses in the church office.
